Alloy C276, also known as Hastelloy C276, has excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of chemical process environments including those with ferric and cupric chlorides. Alloy C276 has excellent resistance to pitting and to stress-corrosion cracking. It is one of the few materials that withstands the corrosive effects of wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide.
